Adopt-a-Road

The GGCA's Adopt-a-Road project is an important part of our efforts to keep Glenmont clean and green. We conduct regular clean-ups of Randolph Road between Denley Road and Georgia Avenue. The county provides us with gloves, vests, bags, and pick-up sticks for trash. Volunteers fill the bags, and the county picks up the trash and keeps track of how much litter we are picking up on each outing.

Adopt-a-Road provides an opportunity to make a real, visible difference in the community. Contact us a This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. if you'd like to volunteer for the program.

A Greener Glenmont

As part of our efforts to make Glenmont cleaner and greener, the GGCA is revitalizing some of the public green spaces in our community, beginning with the triangle at the intersection of Hathaway Drive and Weller Road. Our goal in restoring these spaces will be to create attractive, safe, environmentally friendly areas that will require minimal upkeep and discourage littering.

Our options for beautifying these spaces may include planting rain gardens, doing other kinds of conservation landscaping, installing community benches, and planting tree canopies.

We plan to work with GreenWheaton (a local nonprofit consulting group) to help get this program up and running and to take advantage of county funding through the RainScapes program. RainScapes helps local communities plant rain gardens and do other types of landscaping that benefit the environment and increase the community’s curb appeal.
